FANCY BEING A CAMPSITE WARDEN?

Kingston Maurward College in

Dorset is now recruiting for a new student intake on the Foundation

Degree in Tourism Park Management, beginning 13 January 2014.

The

course has been designed for the caravan parks industry and to benefit

those working, or hoping to work, in it. This is a part-time

qualification, so the studies take place over 3½ years and the course covers management subjects in a caravan

park context – strategy, marketing, finance, customer service, relevant

legislation and more.

Each module of the degree consists of a week-long residential unit on a UK caravan park and an academic assignment.

Jenny Pritchard, Head of Caravan Industry Training (CITO), responsible for the industry’s training, explains:

“The

parks industry today is diverse and highly professional, values talent

and individuality, and has a passion for what it does. Students not

currently working in the industry can be assisted in finding a work

placement to get first hand knowledge to back up their studies, and the

flexible study pattern avoiding park busy periods would enable part time

employment alongside study.

“To date, students have been

already working in the industry, but it also provides an opportunity for

those from outside the industry to take the first steps towards an

exciting future.”

Further information on the degree can be obtained from Jenny Pritchard (CITO) on jenny@cito.org.uk. Visit the CITO website www.cito.org.uk to find out more.
