The group has closed one of its production sites, in response to what it says is a “prolonged turbulent political and economic climate”.

The company’s Mexborough site in South Yorkshire, formerly the home of Autocruise until Swift bought the company in 2007, has been closed down. All motorhome production from there, and what the company describes as a “small number of colleagues”, have been moved to the main Cottingham site in East Yorkshire.

We understand that less than 5% of the workforce have been made redundant following a staff consultation that started in November.

In a statement the company said, “We have accepted a number of voluntary redundancies from those in affected areas at Cottingham and have been able to redeploy some employees into other roles, leading to a considerable reduction in the overall number of people affected.”
