It’s hard to believe that it’s only three years since Sunlight shared a new-model launch with fellow Erwin Hymer Group brand Dethleffs.

Things have changed a lot since then, with the former becoming a recognisable and popular brand in its own right; this year, it held a glitzy launch at the Allianz Arena, home of Bayern Munich FC.

Last year the company made a move into both A-classes and van conversions. This year’s updates were more muted, but did include a new, bright-red version of the Cliff van conversion, and a clutch of other new models.

Rear beds and special editions

The Cliff van conversion range was launched last year, and was very well received; the 601 model even won the Best Budget Motorhome gong in our 2018 Motorhome of the Year Awards.

This year it continues with four floorplans, all with a bed at the back. Interestingly, the 601 retains its unusual double-bed-bunks at the rear, but this year there are two separate Cliff ranges: the regular version, and Special Edition. 

Special Edition models are particularly well specified, and come with a sporty-looking red exterior – we think it’ll make you stand out on site, but it’s likely to divide opinion.

The kit level includes 16-inch alloy wheels, an awning, a panoramic rooflight over the lounge, four mains sockets and integrated LED lights. Special Edition models range in price from £46,299-£49,149 OTR.

The Entry Level models, meanwhile, offer a slightly lower specification as standard; the exterior is white, and the lighting, upholstery and fittings vary.

However, they do feature a 2.3-litre engine over the Special Edition Cliff’s 2.0, with 130bhp and larger payloads. They are also very competitively priced, from £37,449-£39,799 OTR.

In the I-monikered flagship A-class range, the 69 S is an impressive new model. It features a comfortable island bed at the rear and a spacious interior, yet remains just 7m in length and sits on a 3.5-tonne chassis.

It’s the cheapest of the three I models at £60,149; the most expensive costs £61,749.

Prices for T-badged models range from £46,999-£50,499 OTR, while A-badged models run from £49,149-£51,800 OTR.

UK models are likely to include the UK pack, which features a large fridge, a cab sunroof, Truma Combi 6E heating, an oven and right-hand drive.
