More efficient, Euro 6-compliant engines have been added to Renault’s van range, ready for converters looking for options for their 2017-season models, hot on the heels of the new Fiat Ducato and the PSA Group’s Peugeot Boxer/Citroën Relay. The new Euro 6 legislation comes into force next month.
Owners of motorhomes in the Adria Matrix Supreme range or the Rimor Koala Elite and Katamarano ranges will be familiar with the largest of Renault’s LCVs, the Master. The Euro 6-compliant Renault Master engines are between five and 10hp more powerful than their Euro 5 predecessors, and meet the new emissions standard through the use of a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and the addition of AdBlue. Three single-turbocharged engines are available in the Masters, the dCi 110, the ENERGY dCi 110 and the dCi 130. There’s also the twin-turbo ENERGY dCi 145, ENERGY dCi 170 (front-wheel drive) and ENERGY dCi 165 (rear-wheel drive). A long-wheelbase variant of the Crew Van has been introduced, too, plus the rear-wheel drive, single rear wheel panel vans can now be bought with the full range of engines. In fact, there are now 40 new Master variants.
Engines in the Renault Kangoo range have had their nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions slashed to Euro 6-compliant levels through the addition of a NOx trap. And now the best fuel economy Renault Kangoo Maxi vans are able to achieve can be as much as 62.8mpg (NEDC combined).
The middle-of-the-range Trafic gains Renault’s ENERGY dCi 95 engine for the first time. Thanks to SCR and AdBlue technology, the Euro 6 engines are more powerful than their Euro 5 predecessors and as well as the entry-level turbocharged 95 engine, there’s the turbocharged dCi 120, plus two twin-turbocharged powerplants in the form of the ENERGY dCi 125 and ENERGY dCi 145.
Prices (excluding VAT) start at £14,150 for the Kangoo, £19,325 for the Trafic and £22,270 for the Master. And all Renault LCVs sold in the UK are available with a four-year/100,000-mile warranty and four years of roadside assistance, giving peace of mind. A new Thatcham-approved alarm is also now fitted as standard on all models.
