Ilfracombe Town Council is allegedly in talks with a local landowner over proposals for an aire-style facility in the
North Devon town.

According to a report by SouthWestBusiness.co.uk, the site – within walking distance of the town centre – would feature electric hook-up and water, specifically for motorcaravanners on tour to Ilfracombe. “Through our town strategy deliberations, we realised that there has been a great expansion in the ownership of motorhomes,” said town councillor Rod Donovan. “But compared to towns in France, where they have parks to accommodate these vehicles close to the town centres, we have nothing to cater for them in Ilfracombe.”

Mr Donovan went on to tell SouthWest Business that the council was aiming to accommodate around 20 motorhomes, should the plans go ahead.
