October’s Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC has been cancelled for this year.
Organiser NCC Events say it took the decision to postpone the UK’s biggest caravan and motorhome show because it says there is no current indication on when mass gatherings in the UK may be lifted.
It says operating the show under Covid-19 restrictions would have been difficult.
A visitor survey had also suggested that attendance would have slumped as a result.
Anyone who has already bought a ticket will be entitled to a full refund.
NCC Events chief executive John Lally admitted that the decision to postpone the show until 2021 had been “very difficult”.
He said, “We know the Motorhome and Caravan Show plays a critically important role in the achievement of retail sales each season. To this end we are focussing on initiatives to help and support the showcasing of the 2021 new season products.”
He added that postponing the show at this stage would not just help protect public health, but also protect the financial viability of exhibitors and the show itself. “This gives the opportunity for exhibitors to recover any secondary costs,” he said.
The Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show will still take place as planned at the NEC from 23 to 28 February next year.
Next October’s show will run from 12 to 17 October 2021.
