Google maps, directions and its useful ‘streetview’ close-ups are already extremely handy when you’re planning a motorhome tour to a new location. Now the service has reached new heights – literally!
They’ve been busy mapping remote places and now you can explore some of the most famous mountains on Earth,
including Aconcagua (South America), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elbrus
(Europe) and Everest Base Camp (Asia) on Google Maps.
SCALE THE SEVEN SUMMITS
Google says that these mountains
belong to the group of peaks known as the Seven Summits – the highest
mountain on each of the seven continents.
Thanks to the intrepid mountaineers working for Google Maps you can now enjoy the view from the top of these peaks at the click of a mouse. As Google points out, this way there’s no risk of avalanches, rock slides, crevasses, and dangers from the
altitude and weather that mountaineers face.
USE YOUR MOTORHOME AS BASE CAMP
If you like to use your motorhome as a base for mountain walking, climbing and ski-ing, the new mapping will be perfect for tour-planning.
The service is also available via on your phone, which could be a life-saver if you’re on a mountain and don’t know which is the right way back down to your campsite and the comforts of your motorhome.
