Motorhome owners urged to watch out for thieves in run-up to Easter

Motorhome owners are being urged to stay vigilant for thieves in the run-up to the Easter bank holiday weekend.

The warning was issued by stolen vehicle recovery expert Tracker and highlights the importance of motorhome security, after data revealed that a quarter of the ‘vans and caravans that the company recovered last year were taken during March and April.

This was due to people getting their ‘vans out of secure storage, in preparation for the new season of touring.

Clive Wain, Head of Police Liaison at Tracker, comments: “It’s true that caravans and motorhomes have always been a target for criminals. The total value of both, recovered last year, however, reached an eye-watering £1,344,500. These figures demonstrate that we are not scare-mongering and theft is a clear and present danger. As we head towards holiday season, the continuing lack of supply and ever-increasing demand for leisure vehicles makes them even more likely to be stolen to order by thieves.”
