Many other businesses are now signing up for this national scheme, which was launched in October 2012 and is backed by The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club. We reported the launch here. The NCC set up its Approved Dealership scheme to protect consumers and establish high standards of professionalism and customer service.

If you buy a new or used motorhome from one of the approved motorhome dealerships this should ensure that you will be treated fairly and enjoy a greater level of consumer protection than the minimum required by law.

At the heart of the NCC scheme is a Consumer Code of Practice, to establish the standard, which is then monitored and policed through the scheme. It covers the way in which dealers market their motorhomes, answer your requests for information, how they help you to select the right model, the buying process and the handover when you pick up your ‘van. It also looks at the way any customer complaints are handled.

All the approved dealers put customer satisfaction high on their list of priorities.

Once motorhome dealerships have won ‘Approved Dealership’ status from the NCC, they can display the ‘NCC Approved tick’ logo on their websites and sales materials, signifying to consumers their commitment to operating in a fair, open and honest way.

The scheme covers motorhome dealerships, caravan dealerships and those firms that sell and service both. Here are some of the other firms that have been granted NCC ‘Approved Dealership’ status so far.
