Italian brand Laika has added a range of campervans with optional pop-up roofs to its entry-level Kosmo. Both vehicles are based on a Fiat Ducato, a base vehicle which is one of the best vans for a camper conversion, and also come fitted with the Truma Combi 4 heating system.
Unusually, the two models in the line-up both have transverse beds in the rear, with optional additional beds in the roof, if you should choose them, and an optional single berth made up from the dinette, bringing the total number of berths to five.
The main difference comes in the design of the washrooms and the kitchen. The 5.41m-long Kosmo 50 has a compact kitchen with a 70-litre fridge at the end of the peninsula, which can easily be reached from outside, although campervanners can always opt to buy the best cool box for a campervan if they need additional space.
It also has a compact washroom, with a shower hose you can extend through the window outside.
The 5.99m-long Kosmo 60 model, meanwhile, has a bigger kitchen with a pull-out extension and a larger washroom, with a swinging partition that reveals the shower.
The Erwin Hymer Group company has also updated the Kreos L 5009, based on a Mercedes Sprinter. The living area is no different from that of the existing model, based on a Fiat, but the cab is larger and the vehicle floor now extends into it.
Laika is not the only brand to be adding new campervans, with Hymer launching its Grand Canyon X Experience Special Edition, a ‘van which includes a 5G router as standard.
