The best thing about my job as the art editor on Practical Motorhome is the fact that I get to look at lots of amazing photos from our, and your, motorcaravanning tours. However, selecting the best ones to appear in the magazine every month can be quite a (fun) challenge.

When I’m putting a feature together I try to choose the images that best describe the writer’s journey or the ones that best convey the atmosphere of the piece: that epic view or secluded spot, a beautiful beach or just the thrill of the open road! To me, these wonderful images help to depict exactly what touring in a motorhome is all about.

Our team go to great lengths, and get into lots of amusing scrapes, to try and capture the very best images to use in our features. These photos really help to illustrate just how much fun our fantastic hobby is!

Here at Practical Motorhome we like to encourage you, our readers, to share your best holiday moments, too. Each month in our Talk pages we encourage you to send in the best photos from your tours for our Hot Shots section. Judging the pictures is a team effort, and we agonise over choosing the winning picture, but as art editor I usually have the final say.

The best picture we publish will win copies of All the Aires guides to France, Spain & Portugal, Benelux & Scandinavia, plus Sea View Camping Britain, all from Vicarious Books. To increase your chances of claiming a prize here are a few top tips:

a) Where possible, include your motorhome: having your beloved ‘van in shot shows us that you’re really there living the dream!

b) Consider your composition: a beautiful castle, or your beloved wife/husband, will be less attractive if you have cropped out their most appealing feature.

c) Capture the moment! Some of our favourite shots are of unique moments: sunsets, dramatic weather or the local wildlife.

d) Have fun! The winning shot needn’t always be a jaw-dropping landscape, we enjoy seeing you and your touring buddies enjoying your motorhome.

So please keep sending us your favourite touring pictures by post or email, with the stories behind them, so we can all enjoy each others amazing motorcaravanning adventures.
