The Great British Campout took place on Saturday 4 April with people from across the UK safely camping inside their homes or gardens.

Ian Alcorn, a bathroom fitter from West Bridgford in Nottingham, came up with the idea so his children had something exciting to do at the weekend. He set up a JustGiving page where people could donate to raise money for NHS staff who are fighting the corona outbreak.

So far, the event has raised over £96,700 which will go to NHS Charities Together, and another Great British Campout was being organised for the following weekend.

Ian said: “I thought we could raise a few quid for NHS staff, I didn’t realise we’d be over £96,700 with 27,000 members in the group! If you can’t camp in your van or tent, make a den, make a donation but most of all make memories and have fun!”
