Elddis offers free payload upgrade to its Aspire range

Elddis has announced that it is offering a free payload upgrade on all models in its luxurious Aspire range.

The offer to upgrade payload by an extra 200kg applies to both unsold new (unregistered) 2011 models and the new-season 2012 models, which will be based on the facelifted Boxer with Euro 5 compliant engines in the new year.

However, we qualified our verdict in our full live-test of the ’van, saying: “It’s not perfect, though: the payload is our biggest gripe. If your licence will take it, we recommend upgrading to the 4000kg chassis, for an extra £1140. Then the 240 becomes a truly tempting purchase for two peole to tour in luxury. It’s a very good ’van, and we look forward to seeing Elddis grow the range in future.”

We’re delighted, then, to see Elddis make the additional allowance free of charge on all three Elddis Aspire models. The MTPLM (Maximum Technically Permissible Laden Mass) of each motorhome will increase as follows:

Buyers should place their order with their supplying Elddis dealer. However, be sure to bear in mind licence restrictions: to drive a motorhome with an MTPLM over 3500kg (but not exceeding 7500kg) you’ll need a driving licence that includes category C1 entitlement.

Those who passed their car test before January 1, 1997, will have C1 on their licence automatically. If not, they’ll need to pass a further test. Similarly, when drivers who passed their test prior to this date reach 70 years of age, they will need to present a D4 medical report form with their renewal application in order to keep their category C1 licence entitlement. They will need to do this every three years.
