Dometic has announced that it is offering annual free fridge servicing to a portion of its customers.
The scheme is open to owners of motorhomes with factory-fitted Dometic fridges, purchased after January 1 2011, who are also members of a recognised motorhome owners’ club. Servicing will need to be booked through the clubs, and will be carried out at annual rallies. Clubs will have to be ‘official and recognised’, and will need to register for the scheme.
Owners will also be able to apply to have the services carried out at either of the national rallies organised by the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club, although Dometic states that this will only be available in ‘exceptional circumstances’, where an owner is able to show that they have a ‘valid reason for non-attendance’ at their member’s club rally, or if the rally is fully booked. Service slots at the national rallies will be limited.
The aim of each service will be to check that the appliance is safe to run on gas; any damage or faults will be dealt with under the terms of the specific owner’s warranty. Only one service will be offered every 12 months in a 36-moth period, and any additional servicing will have to be paid for. The scheme does not cover retro-fitted fridges.
