COMMERCIAL VEHICLE IMPORTER DFSK UK showcased its first microcamper,
an elevating roof model called the Cutie, at the 2013 Spring Caravan & Camping Show, 19-24 February, 2013 at the Birmingham NEC. You may have seen it for yourself on DFSK stand 4444, Hall 4.

Though tiny, the Cutie has room for a Porta-Potti and a coolbox
Swindon-based DFSK UK is an official agent for DFSK, China’s third
largest automotive manufacturer. Initially DFSK UK only retailed DFSK’s
Loadhopper commercial vehicle in various body styles, but at last October’s
Motorhome & Caravan Show the firm displayed two prototype campers, one with
an elevating roof and another with a high top, to gauge customers’
interest.
The company has since settled on a two-berth elevating roof design, with
a compact amidships kitchen and side-facing lounge seating in the rear,
alongside a storage unit. Despite the 3.8-metre long base vehicle, which is
about comparable in size to a Suzuki Carry, DFSK UK has managed to work in a
coolbox and space for an optional Porta-Potti.

For just over £21,000, you get a very neat little micro-camper you can use daily
CONVERTED IN THE UK
While the base vehicles are
manufactured in China, the camper conversions are carried out in Southampton.
Thanks to the relatively low cost of the base vehicle, the Cutie retails
for £19,995 OTR, although the elevating roof is a £1194 option.
The Cutie
boasts around 200kg of user payload, as well as a 77bhp 1.3-litre petrol
engine that should be more than potent enough to cope with its maximum weight
of 1573kg. The engine does produce 184g/km of CO2, though, meaning that it will
fall into the relatively expensive £215 per annum vehicle tax bracket, with a
first-year rate of £325.
DFSK UK has already started taking orders for the Cutie, and will be
retailing it through some of its existing commercial vehicle dealers, who have
experience with leisure vehicle sales, as well as through specialist motorhome
dealers.
