It’s that time of year again, as The Caravan and Motorhome Club celebrate their Autumn Parliamentary Reception by announcing the winner of the Certificated Location of the Year Awards.
This year the award for CL of the Year goes to Avon Bank Meadow Certificated Location, which sits in an idyllic location on the banks of the River Avon.
The Worcestershire site has been run by Craig Brown and Sarah McAllister since 2015, who collected their award at Tuesday’s exclusive ceremony.
As well as winning this award, their success is clear in the fact that their CL is full for most of the year, with many repeat guests.
Avon Bank Meadow is open all year, with fully serviced pitches and recently installed WiFi, and is a hit with visitors.
This award is voted for by Club members, recognising the best CLs across the network and the hard work of those owners that go the extra mile to make their site a memorable one.
This year also sees the introduction of two new awards. The first, the Best Newcomer CL Award, went to Rodgebrook Farm on the Isle of Wight, who joined the Certificated Locations scheme in the last year. The site offers level pitches, a warm welcome and discounts on ferry fares, and is building a reputation for being very dog-friendly.
The second new award is the Most Inspiring CL Photograph Award, celebrating CLs and their surroundings in a visual format. The first ever winners of this award are Woody Kiln Farm, who won with a stunning photo of Lindsway Bay, a beach 20 minutes’ walk from their CL.
At a ceremony at the House of Commons hosted by Sir David Amess MP, this year’s winners were honoured in recognition of the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act that grants The Caravan and Motorhome Club the power to certify landowners to open CLs.
Grenville Chamberlain, Caravan and Motorhome Club Chairman, was there to present the awards and said “We are proud to recognise the important part CLs play in both our members’ experiences and as a sustainable form of tourism… My congratulations go out to all this year’s winners.”
If you’re looking for somewhere new to try for a weekend away, check out the CLs that have been voted best in the country by fellow caravanners and motorcaravanners.
