The organisers of Caravan Salon, the world’s biggest motorhome show, have postponed the event – but only by a week.

The event, held in Düsseldorf, was due to open to the public on 29 August. It will now open on 5 September and run until 13 September.

The German government is currently prohibiting all major events until after 31 August, to try to halt the spread of Covid-19.

Event host Messe Düsseldorf says its decision to postpone the event by just a week is based on current information about the spread of the virus, and so may change again.

But in the meantime it is looking at adapting parts of the event to make sure it can implement necessary safety measures for holding such an event at such a time.

Messe Düsseldorf chief executive Werner Dornscheidt said, “The safety and health of our visitors, exhibitors and employees will, of course, also be our highest priority at the upcoming event.”
