Auto-Trail has teased an all-new compact motorhome range, which it plans to release for the 2014 model year.

The as-yet unnamed range will feature unique motorhomes which are a blend of high-top panel van conversions and low-profile coachbuilts. There will be three layouts in total, with the first of these set to be unveiled in July, and the remaining two coming shortly after, during the 2014 season. No precise details on layouts or pricing have been released.

The range will be built on the Fiat Ducato, and will feature panel van bodies with GRP roofs that mimic the design of Auto-Trail’s highly regarded low-profiles, right down to their panoramic rooflights. The concept is similar to that pioneered by Hymer with its Exsis range in 2004, and provides a blend of features from panel vans and coachbuilts, offering compact dimensions, a large sliding door for access and a high level of insulation. Other distinctive features include flush-fit double-glazed habitation windows and a double floor, which incorporates slide-out under-floor storage drawers.

Auto-Trail aims to position this new range at the high end of the compact motorhome market, no doubt with the intention of nabbing sales from both luxury van conversions and coachbuilts. The firm promises a high standard specification, with a solar panel, integrated awning, 4kW Truma Combi heating and external BBQ and shower points provided as standard. On the base vehicle side, the ’vans will come with the 128bhp MultiJet engine, with optional upgrades available to the 148bhp and 178bhp units, as well as the ComfortMatic automated gearbox. Air-conditioning, cruise control, driver and passenger airbags and swivel cab seats are included as standard.

As is customary with Auto-Trail motorhomes, there will be numerous options pack available. The Sport-line pack will provide LED daytime running lights, a metallic black external colour scheme and chrome trim. The Media pack will include a touch-screen stereo, satellite navigation and an integrated LCD screen. Other options include alloy wheels, stainless steel running bars, camping chairs and automotive-style upholstery.
