All our yesterdays

Over the years Don and I have visited any number of museums and collections ranging from the splendid Museum of New Zealand in Wellington which vividly brings to life the history of that country to the eclectic collection of racing cars and fighter planes at the Chateau de Savigny-les-Beaune in France. We’ve marvelled at Michelangelo’s statue of David in the Accademia Gallery in Florence and enjoyed the Isle of Man’s excellent The House of Manannan telling the story of the Island and its people. In Paris we wandered around the glorious Muzee d’Orsay set in its huge vault of steel and glass and in the Eifel Mountains in Germany we visited the Classic-Race Museum, a very personal and intimate collection of racing motorcycles and cars.
Z is for…
Zamora, Spain

Zamora in Old Castile is another of the charming towns we discovered on our journey in the footsteps of Laurie Lee. On arriving, our first impression was of a modern town with tall apartment blocks piled upon the hillside, so different from the old walled town that Lee had described. However, soon we could see the walls of the medieval centre and after finding a parking spot climbed a steep path up into the old town. With its old churches, narrow cobbled streets and little shady squares it wasn’t difficult to imagine how the town must have looked all those years ago when Lee played his fiddle in the streets.

Buying a motorhome was undoubtedly one of the best decisions Don and I have made. Over the years it has given us the freedom to travel where and when we want and to discover so many fantastic places. Long may it continue!
