Dallas star Patrick Duffy officially opened the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC this morning – but what you might not know is that he's a confirmed motorhome fan.

"When Dallas started in 1978 I was given a 6ft by 8ft motorhome and that became my home away from home for the next 13 years," he told the Daily Express in a recent interview. "I became quite proficient at space utilisation and creating a large environment from a small space, and I’d try to bring the outdoors in with framed pictures of my ranch in Oregon."

And that's not all – fellow star Larry Hagman (JR Ewing) also caught the motorhome bug. "(Hagman) would put up strings of jalapeno peppers, and because we’re both old hippies he’d drape his walls with fabric and hang exotic scarves over the lamps. He always had a small refrigerator filled with champagne, too," said Duffy, who played Bobby Ewing in the popular soap.

"I didn’t take a vacation in 30 years because of my work schedules so whenever Larry and I had time off, he and I would get an ice cooler of champagne and head out wherever we wanted in his motorhome. Back then (it) was a converted bread-delivery truck that he’d drive down to Texas from Los Angeles."

If you're at the show, keep an eye out for Duffy - we photographed him earlier on the Bailey Motorhomes stand. And be sure to visit the Practical Motorhome stand in Hall 20, stand 36.

Finally, if you can't make it to the show, don't worry: we'll bring you all the latest news live from the NEC right here on our website.
