GPS developer Road Angel has devised a new safety-camera and blackspot locator for the iPhone – and it’s free to download for a trial.

The app will alert users when they are approaching fixed-, mobile- or average-speed camera locations, as well as blackspots and school zones. You can be warned if you’re travelling over the speed limit, and the speed limit will be displayed on your phone. The information on the database is automatically updated, so you can be sure it’s up to date.

This is the first time that Road Angel data is available outside of a proprietary unit. Using the data for two days’ trial is free; after that, one month’s subscription costs £1.18, while a year’s subscription is £17.99. You can find out more about the app by visiting the Road Angel website here.

The company is also developing an app for other platforms; we’ll report further details when we have them.
