The Sandy Balls Holiday Centre has been given a special gold award by David Bellamy, to mark its £250,000-worth of conversation work on its ancient woodland.
The site, in the New Forest, has won a gold David Bellamy award for each of the last 15 years; one of only eight sites in the scheme to do so.
Sandy Balls has worked alongside the Forestry Commission to maintain the former’s 120-acre site, by planting and growing trees and plants that would have been there naturally. Pine trees have been replaced by native oaks, beech and birch, which has helped attract local fauna species.
