Great news for motorcaravanners from Fylde Council, which has announced that it’s proposing to create five aire-style locations.

Plans are currently underway to develop six existing car parks in the Lytham-St-Anne’s area (North Beach, North Promenade, St Annes Swimming Pool; Fairhaven Road; St Paul’s Avenue and Stanner Bank) to allow motorhomes to park for up to three nights.

An overnight stay will cost £5, and – like many Continental aires – facilities will be limited: outdoor cooking and the dumping of rubbish will be prohibited.

Councillor Albert Pounder said of the initiative: “Without a doubt, motorcaravanners are the sort of prosperous and well-behaved visitors that we want in Fylde. This is a new and growing market in which we can be ahead of our competitor resorts.” It’s thought that, if successful, the scheme could extend to Blackpool and Wyre. You can follow the progress of the proposal by visiting the Fylde Council website, at www.fylde.gov.uk.
