IT MAY HAVE been a dreary day at the opening of the new branch of Marquis Motorhomes and Caravans in April, but that could not dampen the enthusiasm of the cutting of the official red ribbon.

Time to declare the new dealership open!

Marquis’ latest branch was formerly South Yorkshire Motorhomes, situated at Dinnington, South Yorkshire, about a 30-minute drive east of Sheffield. The branch, established in 1981, had grown over the years with a large, six-acre display ground that included a storage area, too. A full showroom and display area including an accessory shop and service centre saw the company well established.

In later years, it was sold and the business went through difficult times and towards the end of last year it closed. Andy Brand, Marquis’ marketing director, knew that the site had much to offer and the company took charge of the premises.

Within a short space of time, the business was back up and running, powered by Marquis, and on 25 April 2014, the official opening took place, conducted by the Rotherham Mayor Councillor John Foden and his Lady Mayor Cathy Foden.

The company is erecting new service bays plus taking on more staff, as since day one this new venture has proved to be quite a success.

So if you’re looking for motorhomes for sale and want to browse a wide variety of new and used ‘vans, you’ll be pleased to hear that this Dinnington site stocks models from Auto-Sleeper, Swift, Elddis and Autocruise, as well as Marquis’s own Swift- and Elddis-based Majestic dealer specials, meaning there is plenty of choice for customers.

With representatives from Swift, Auto-Sleepers and Elddis – and Practical Motorhome! – all present at the opening of this new Marquis outlet, it marked a significant day in the life of this dealership serving motorcaravanners from Yorkshire and further afield.
