Why tour here?

Our Jeremiah Mahadevan said:

"Scandlines runs ferries on the 45-minute crossing between Rødbyhavn in Denmark and Puttgarden, in Germany. Boats sail throughout the night at half-hour intervals. Getting the Adria across cost £63 and the whole process was very smooth.

"On the Danish side of the sea crossing, a motorway runs almost directly to the mouth of the ferry, and since the boats sail so frequently you never have to wait long to get across. Since the ferries also have car deck doors fore and aft, their turnaround is swift.

"Crossing Denmark felt like something of an odyssey. In the space of five days we travelled to eight islands, crossed the sea a dozen times, and saw fields and fjords, castles and cliffs – everything from the bright lights of Copenhagen to the windswept beaches of Jutland.

"By the time we arrived at the Messe Dusseldorf campsite in Germany, we felt as if we had achieved something, because despite its diminutive proportions, Denmark really is a land of epic journeys."
