Our judges have taken a long hard look at the best motorhomes for sale in the 2020, and picked out the the best Motorhome of the Year in each of our 10 categories as well as an overall winner.

After a busy launch season filled with new ranges, layouts and innovations, there was plenty of fodder for our judging panel to choose from when looking at new and substantially revamped models to include in our 2020 Motorhome of the Year Awards.

Announced to the industry at a ceremony at Hampton Manor this evening, the trophies have been handed out and it’s time to reveal the best ‘vans of the season!

Motorhome of the Year

The top gong, our prestigious Motorhome of the Year, is the Elddis Autoquest CV60 and its sister ‘van the Compass Avantgarde CV60. This campervan has a winning combination of a clever layout, a high spec level, and a fantastic price tag.

The layout includes a day bed at the rear that can be quickly and easily made into a comfortable double bed by simply dropping the backrest down, a spacious washroom, and a kitchen that cleverly adapts for those cooking on a barbecue outside. And all for the modest price of £38,599!

After coming top in our category, we think that this ‘van really is the most interesting and innovative motorhome to be launched this year.

Category winners

As well as the Motorhome of the Year, we have 10 categories covering all kinds of motorhomes, including a brand new category for this years’ awards: Best rear-lounge model. This new category covers one of the most popular layouts in the UK, and the ‘van that’s done it best for the 2020 season is the Dreamer Living Van. The spacious interior and high level of comfort really stands out in this crowded sector of the market.

Those that prefer a smaller ‘van will be interested in our Best rising-roof camper category. This award went to the Auto-Trail Adventure 65, an innovative design on an extra-long wheelbase.

The Best budget motorhome in the 2020 season selection of ‘vans was judged to be the Swift Edge 494, a clever four-berth aimed at first-timers, with a luxurious floorplan that makes it surprisingly spacious.

The sub-6m Chausson 520 swipes the Best compact motorhome award, which is hardly surprising when you look at the brilliant design and luxurious touches.

Although technically a four-berth, the winner of our Best motorhome for couples category, the Bailey Advance 76-2T, has everything a couple could want, even on longer tours, and all for less than £50,000.

Meanwhile, families that are looking for a bit more space and a more flexible layout should check out the Swift Edge 486, winner of our Best family motorhome award.

Looking for luxury touches but restricted on weight? The winner of our Best luxury motorhome under 3500kg category is the Mobilvetta Kea P67, a neat sub-7m ‘van that’s packed with Italian style and luxury.

However, for those for whom weight isn’t an issue, the Best luxury motorhome over 3500kg offers truly spectacular kit levels. The Carthago Chic E-line I 51 QB is the ultimate combination of sophistication and practicality on a Mercedes base.

These awards are all about rewarding innovation and clever design, which is particularly highlighted in our Best innovation category. This year, the award goes to the table-leg heating showcased in Rapido’s M96. In fact, the ‘van is packed with clever features that make it a very deserving winner.
