Four more UK motorhome dealerships have achieved ‘Approved’ status in the NCC Approved Dealership Scheme run by the National Caravan Council

This brings the total number of NCC-approved dealers selling motorhomes and caravans to 44. The latest additions to the scheme are Simpsons Motor Caravans in Norfolk, Tyne Valley Motorhomes near Newcastle-on-Tyne, Venture Caravans in Northampton, and Hill Top Caravans in North Lanarkshire.

Simpsons Motor Caravans sells brand new motorhomes from Auto-Sleeper, Auto-Trail, Autocruise, Elddis, Rapido and Swift, as well as a selection of secondhand motorhomes. The firm currently has an end of season sale of the remaining new 2014 motorhomes on its Great Yarmouth forecourt. New bargains include the 2014 Auto-Sleeper Broadway EB, Elddis Accordo 125 and Swift Bolero 722FB and an unused 2013 Lunar Vacanza

Tyne Valley Motorhomes near Newcastle sells new and used motorhomes and also offers motorhome servicing and motorhome hire. Pre-owned campers start with a 1999 Devon Rio Grande at £13,000, coachbuilts from £20,000 for a 2004 Compass Avantgarde 200. New motorhomes in stock include the 2014 Auto-Trail V-Line 600, down from £51,275 to £39,995. More 2015 Auto-Trail motorhomes are in stock, too, such as the Apache 632, Tracker RB and others.

Venture Caravans in Northampton has a pre-owned four-berth 1999 Bessacarr E425 for sale at £12,995, with a year's warranty. Plus there's a four-berth 2006 Elddis Autoquest 100 at £19,995. New motorhomes from Elddis in stock include the 2015 Impressa range.

Hill Top Caravans in North Lanarkshire sells a few pre-owned motorhomes with its larger stock of caravans. There's a Volkswagen T4-based high top camper at £7,995 and a five-berth 1990 Elddis Autoquest 400 at £6,495.

Many other businesses are now signing up for this national scheme, which was launched in October 2012 and is backed by The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club. We reported the launch here. The NCC set up its Approved Dealership scheme to protect consumers and establish high standards of professionalism and customer service.

If you buy a new or used motorhome from one of the approved motorhome dealerships this should ensure that you will be treated fairly and enjoy a greater level of consumer protection than the minimum required by law.

At the heart of the NCC scheme is a Consumer Code of Practice, to establish the standard, which is then monitored and policed through the scheme. It covers the way in which dealers market their motorhomes, answer your requests for information, how they help you to select the right model, the buying process and the handover when you pick up your 'van. It also looks at the way any customer complaints are handled.

All the approved dealers put customer satisfaction high on their list of priorities.

Once motorhome dealerships have won ‘Approved Dealership’ status from the NCC, they can display the ‘NCC Approved tick’ logo on their websites and sales materials, signifying to consumers their commitment to operating in a fair, open and honest way.

The scheme covers motorhome dealerships, caravan dealerships and those firms that sell and service both. Here are some of the other firms that have been granted NCC ‘Approved Dealership’ status so far.
