In our latest TV show broadcast on The Motorhome Channel, it’s time to pull out a posh frock or smart suit and join Practical Motorhome’s Editor Niall Hampton at the 2014 Motorhome of the Year Awards.

As always, you can find our shows on The Motorhome Channel, which is on Sky 192, Freesat 402 and broadcast live online. Our shows are sponsored by Motorhome Depot. In this new show, join our Niall behind the scenes at our prestigious Motorhome of the Year Awards, where our test team look back at the models they’ve tested over the past year.

Then Gentleman Jack Bancroft is on hand to review one of the winners, the Shire Phoenix 2XL Studio. There’s a full height door which is usefully wide, providing great access even for wheelchair users. A selection of tables mean you can choose where you eat your meals, plus a lot of thought has gone into the kitchen area, careful details making it a good space – there is even a thermostatically controlled wine cooler and a pop-up power dock. In addition, this well equipped, two-berth motorhome has a neatly designed washroom with a modern, smart finish. All for a little under £47,000 – and if that’s more than you can afford, be sure to tune in as Gentleman Jack has a canny, money saving tip for you.

Another of our Motorhome of the Year winners, the Bailey Approach Compact 540, falls under the spotlight in our latest TV show, Practical Motorhome’s Rob Ganley on hand to review this Peugeot Boxer based ‘van. The opening sunroof wins praise, as does the very clever drop-down bed, which is the first of its kind to reach market from a British manufacturer. This drop-down bed means there’s a good amount of space inside the ‘van, with a compact kitchen in the middle and a full width end washroom. If you’re looking to downsize, you’ll want to watch this review, as this really is an excellent option that doesn’t bring many compromises, due to its premium spec. So tune in to The Motorhome Channel on Sky 192, on Freesat 402 or watch live online from the comfort of your PC or laptop.

Back at the 2014 Motorhome of the Year Awards at Woburn Sculpture Gallery, there are wins for Swift, Chausson and Hymer, and we’ve a review of the Hymer Exsis-t 588 in our new TV show, from Practical Motorhome’s Editor Niall Hampton. This is another motorhome that taps into the downsizing trend, the maker bringing touches from its higher end models into this compact, more affordable ‘van. This is a super motorhome for couples with twin fixed single beds at the rear which can be made very easily into a massive double, and a compact but well considered midships washroom.

Another winner at our awards, the Auto-Sleeper Kingham, is a ‘van we’ve toured with and reviewed in the past, and you can learn more about this model and why it is an award winner in our latest TV show. There’s a lovely, very sociable lounge in this well built, two-berth motorhome, that has a reclining fixed double bed with a memory foam mattress. It even has a drinks cabinet with four crystal glasses.
