ELDDIS MARKS 50 YEARS. The new Accordo range of compact coachbuilts came about because County Durham-based Elddis turns 50 next year and is celebrating this milestone. Along with this brand new range, the firm has made some tweaks and additions to the rest of its portfolio.


It has refreshed its existing value-for-money Autoquest and luxury Aspire ranges. But first, let's look at this brand new range  – the Accordo.

These brilliant new additions are textbook examples of “the right ’vans at the right time”, addressing customer demand for compact motorhomes and van conversions.


The Accordo comes in two super layouts (105 and 125) with skinny genes, both riding on Peugeot X250 Boxer low-line Tempo Libero chassis (130bhp).


The Elddis Accordo 125

The new three-berth Accordo 125 breaks new ground, offering a high-level ‘permanent’ (but fold-away) transverse double-bed above 
a huge rear garage. We think it's the most exciting model in the 2014-season motorhome line-up from Elddis.


Like its smaller sibling (the two-berth Elddis Accordo 105) the three-berth 125 is a compact coachbuilt motorhome small enough to drive anywhere. It's under 6m (19ft 8in) long,  is just 2m wide (6ft 6in) and has an interior headroom of 6ft 4in. It's built on a Peugeot X250 Boxer low-line Tempo Libero chassis (130bhp).


Despite being narrow in the body, the coachbuilt 125 seems more spacious inside than many panel van conversions with the same layout.


Sports fans will love the storage

The dividing wall between the rear boot/garage and the habitation features an aperture through which you can feed bulky long items like skis and fishing rods, which should make the 125 appeal to buyers using it for sporting pursuits.


Four can travel

Forward are two front-facing rear travel seats (hooray!) and swivelling cab seats. The 125 is suitable for use as an ‘only’ vehicle and is aimed squarely at stealing sales from panel van conversions, which is why Accordo models are not just short, but also narrower and less lofty than existing Elddis ranges.


The Elddis Accordo 105

The Elddis Accordo 105 is the smaller in this new range of two compact coachbuilt motorhomes.

The two-berth 105 has two inward-facing settees up front, that turn into a comfy transverse double bed. Further back, it has an offside kitchen, nearside wardrobe and rear corner washroom – a tried and tested layout.


10-year guarantee

Elddis’s SoLiD bonding process is used for both models in the Accordo range for 2014. New readers can find an in-depth description of this revolutionary SoLiD construction method for motorhomes and caravans on the Elddis website. Elddis is so confident in the technique that all vehicles built using SoLiD – 14 motorhomes in total – come with a 10-year water ingress warranty. 


50 years of British motorhome design and manufacture

Based in Consett, County Durham, Elddis is a well established motorhome and caravan manufacturer. Indeed, this British firm celebrates its 50th anniversary next year.


Customer demand for compact motorhomes and van conversions gave Elddis the impetus to reinvent the small motorhome – and the Accordo range is the impressive result.


We applaud the new Accordo range, particularly the 125, and hope that this slim, lithe and versatile little compact motorhome gets the attention it deserves.


For 2014 it’s the lithe new Accordo that pushes all the right buttons in the Elddis line-up. They’re as thin as rakes, yet both models feel much more spacious than panel van conversions with the same layouts. Smart move, Elddis!
