Cumbria Constabulary has warned motorcaravanners to be extra vigilant after a spate of thefts at Lake District campsites.

The alert comes after numerous caravanners and campers became crime victims after having items stolen over the last few months. Electrical items have been stolen from touring units, and bikes have been taken from carriers.

“Basic security measures will deter an opportunist thief,” said Inspector Richard Quinn from Cumbria Constabulary. “A good-quality bike lock fitted to an anchor point will help to prevent these expensive items being taken.”

Visitors have been urged to contact Cumbria Police immediately if they notice any suspicious activity, by calling 0845 33 00 247. For more on the warning, click here.
