It’s now possible to book online for the National Trust’s beautiful Lake District campsites at Great Langdale, Wasdale and Low Wray.

Until now you could only ring or email to book a pitch; but a new online facility allows you to book a small-motorhome spot up to 24 hours before your arrival, for a minimum of two nights. Some pitches will still be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so there may still be space if you don’t get around to booking.

Online bookings carry a £5 booking fee, while advanced telephone and email bookings are more expensive, with a £7.50 fee.

Small campervans are accepted at the three main National Trust sites, but electric hook-up is only available at Wasdale in limited numbers. Chemical-disposal is not available at any site. The Trust’s fourth site – Hoathwaite – has no facilities, so while campervans are accepted you are required to have your own toilet facilities onboard.
