The continuing unrest in Libya, and the resultant soar in oil prices, has caused Spain to lower its motorway speed limits in a bid to force motorists to use less fuel.

Speed limits on Spain’s motorways will be reduced temporarily from 120kph (75mph) to 110kph (68mph) as of March 7, 2011. The government is currently erecting new signs to ensure all motorists are aware of the change. The country’s other speed limits remain unaltered.

We will report any other similar European speed limit changes here on the Practical Motorhome website.
