Troutbeck Head Caravan Club Site
Website: www.caravanclub.co.uk

Located between Penrith and Keswick in the North Lakes, Troutbeck has all the superb features and spotless amenities that you would expect to find at a Caravan Club site. Even better, it also boasts a laid-back, relaxing air. Visitors are able to choose their own pitches and with such an impressive range of views available, this could take you some time. The site's natural beauty is enhanced by a pretty little brook that runs through the middle.
In the main amenity block you'll find drying rooms, where you can air wet clothes and boots after a long day spent exploring the fells.
Children over five years old can take advantage of the two play areas, while at the activity centre next door to the site, adventurous types of all ages can have a go at quad biking, indoor go-karting, archery and clay pigeon shooting. Here, you can also learn how to drive an Arco Cat or even a JCB digger! Horse riding and fishing, too, are available at the activity centre.
Troutbeck is close to various visitor attractions, but closest of all is Rheged, 'the village in the hill' It's a great place for rainy day entertainment thanks to its exhibitions, shops, restaurants and a giant-screen cinema that is hard to beat.
 • 28 miles to Lake Windermere . Here you can take cruises (website www.windermere-lakecruises.co.uk), sail, canoe, and even windsurf or water-ski. At 12 miles long, Windermere is the largest natural lake in England.
