Sandringham Caravan Club Site
Site owner Mr Peter Wells
Open 28 March-3 November
Inspector William Billing
This is one of the Caravan Club’s best sites. Set among trees and pleasant walks, Sandringham Estate is an excellent family site with plenty of space and many attractions within easy reach. The site has 130 numbered pitches, all with 16A hook-up, and nearly all are hardstanding. Pitches are clearly divided by grass, gravel and tarmac roads.
A friendly welcome is always forthcoming and a useful map of the site is provided when you check in. There are three pristine sanitary facilities with free hot showers. Mops and buckets are provided and users are asked to mop up after themselves; this helps maintain the buildings to the high standards for which the Club is famous. No pitch is further than 50 metres from these facilities.
There is no shop, but basic items such as milk, bread and newspapers are available. A fish-and-chip van calls twice weekly. Within five miles are fishing, golf and horse riding, and boats can be hired for day trips around the coast.
Sandringham House and its museum are very close by; they are open all-year round except for the end of July and beginning of August. There are good cycle routes and excellent coastal walks, too. The Country Park is open to visitors with its train ride, country walks, adventure playground, Royal Gardens flower stall and tea room. Information about all the local attractions can be found in the reception building.
There was a small problem with the grass areas in 2003; the warden, Peter Wells, has been working hard at rectifying it by reseeding the grounds, so this should not affect your enjoyment of a very good site.
Make sure you follow the instructions and approach the site from the A149 – do not use the B1440 unless you want to get stuck in the congestion in Sandringham Country Park.
