When former builder Iestyn Jones and his family won the coveted '2005 AA Best Campsite in Wales' award,
it was a fitting tribute to
the holiday haven they have developed in the hills of North Wales, close to Caernarfon and Mount Snowdon.
The key to their success
has been the continuous development of their 28 acres along the banks of the River Gwyrfai, sandwiched between the 2290ft Mynydd Mawr and 2382ft Moel Eilio mountain ranges. The site is well signposted along the A4085, and protected with push-button coded barriers and CCTV.
Before the 2006 season got under way, further development was planned to improve facilities for visitors on this
five-field site. The four shower facilities have already been upgraded, and there are now attractions as diverse as a narrow-gauge steam railway
and a dog-walking area that circles a nature reserve along the River Gwyrfai. There is a also a shop, games room and children's play area.
Of the 180 pitches, 120 have their own water, drainage and electricity supply and 100 are placed on hardstanding. But
the site's biggest selling point
is its surrounding countryside. Beautiful flora and villages surround you, with Beddgelert
in one direction and Caernarfon Castle in the other.
Bryn Gloch makes an ideal base for any holiday. Set in the heart of wild and rugged North Wales it's simply spectacular.
