Woodovis Park
Website: www.woodovis.com
Open March to October
After heading down the tree-lined private drive that stretches for half a mile from the main village road to this site, you are greeted by John and Dorothy Lewis – and the kind of friendly, polite service that almost belongs to a different age.
The site's 50 pitches are thoughtfully arranged in a way that allows you to drink in the stunning Devon scenery. They are separated into two areas, allowing those with families to be close to the well-equipped play area and indoor heated swimming pool, while couples have the facilities close at hand but are able to pitch in another area where you could well imagine you were on a small,
five-motorcaravan site. This is quite a feat, and means that the park will appeal to just about every type of visitor imaginable.
The owners and their staff work extremely hard to offer all the facilities that a discerning visitor might require – for example, the shop sells delicious home-made bread. In fact, a monthly meeting is held to discuss ways in which the site could be improved. Something that will not change, however, is the charm of this superb little site, which offers everything that the bigger players do, but with a welcoming atmosphere and friendliness that they could never hope to match. The small, personal feel of Woodovis elicits pure relaxation.
