Golden Cap Holiday Park
Website: www.wdlh.co.uk
Open March to November
To find a caravan park nestling between the hills, just 150m from the sea and surrounded by 2000 acres of National Trust land, is to discover a rare treasure. This coastal gem is accessed through a narrow, single-track lane from the A35 at Chideock, about three-quarters of a mile from Seatown. It's rather a squeeze to reach in a motorhome, but a fine vista of sea and beach awaits you when you arrive.
Golden Cap is the highest
sea cliff in South England and towers above the shingle beach. Spacious pitches are arranged in terraces that lead down to the sea and a valley. One brief warning – some pitches have a slight slope.
This on-site facilities include a launderette, washing-up areas, and two shower facilities, and there is also a well-stocked shop that provides an abundance of tourist information.
The children's play area is rather small, but you can use the full leisure facilities at Golden Cap's sister-site, Highlands End. This is located just two miles away.
Near the entrance to the site, and overlooking the beach, is the Anchor Inn, which serves great food. You can sit on the balcony with your glass of wine and drink in the lovely sea view.
Those seeking the peace and beauty of a World Heritage coastline with endless walking opportunities will appreciate Golden Cap Holiday Park.
