How's your sense of adventure? Well, if you fancy the idea of a motorcaravanning African safari but can't afford it, the next best thing might be Longleat Caravan Club. There are few sites in Britain where you can hear the roar of lions at nightfall but at Longleat it's almost guaranteed. The campsite is also open to non-Caravan Club members.
Set in a glade of mature trees alongside Longleat House and Safari Park, the site offers a spacious layout, friendly staff and immaculate facilities.
Everyone is welcome here, including children and dogs, and there's a pleasant area on site called The Village Green, where youngsters can play on a slide and swings. Tables for group picnics are also located here, and there's a delightfully rural dedicated dog walk.
Longleat makes a good base from which to explore West Wiltshire and North-East Somerset, and is ideal for those who enjoy walking. The site wardens can provide you with details of rambles, within the Longleat Estate and beyond, ranging from one to seven miles.
Longleat is mostly a peaceful campsite. There is lots to do on and around the site and, with the added bonus of having Stonehenge nearby, you'll find it hard not to enjoy every minute of your inevitably relaxing stay.
