Ferry Meadows CC Site
Website: www.caravanclub.co.uk

This all-year-round Caravan Club site is split into two halves. The west site provides 104 good-quality, level, hardstanding pitches while across the road is the greener alternative of 150 grass pitches. Ferry Meadows is close to Nene Park, a 500-acre country park stretching six miles along the valley of the River Nene. Watersports and horse riding are among the activities available and there is an extensive network of cycle paths. Alternatively, the less energetic may prefer fishing, or bird watching in the purpose-built hides, a stroll around the lakes and woodlands, or a trip on the Nene Valley railway. Peterborough is also just three miles away, where historians will appreciate a visit to the Cathedral, burial place of Catherine of Aragon and Mary Queen of Scots. There are also several gardens and historic houses in the area. The fashion conscious can find much to occupy them in the Queensgate and Westgate Arcades which between them provide over 100 shops, and many places to enjoy a coffee. Peterborough also has many restaurants but you may prefer to sample fish and chips back at the site, on Friday and Saturday evenings. Alternatively, there is a Beefeater restaurant just down the road.
 • For a taste of stately majesty, Elton Hall is seven miles from the site. It is open from 9am until 5pm. Entry to the hall and gardens costs £6. Tel 01832 280468. Web www.eltonhall.com.
