Longleat Caravan Club Site
Website: www.caravanclub.co.uk

If you fancy the idea of taking your caravan on an African safari, but can't face the drive, then Longleat Caravan Club site might be just the place for you. There are few sites in Britain where you can hear the roar of lions at nightfall, but at Longleat it's almost guaranteed.
Set in a glade of mature trees by the safari park, this site will impress with its spacious layout, friendly staff and immaculate facilities. Two toilet facilities and an amenity block, built a few years ago, are of the modern standard expected of a Caravan Club site, and the ratio of facilities to guests is more than ample.
Children and dogs are welcome, and there is a pleasant area called The Village Green, where kids can play on a slide, swings and rockers. Tables for group picnics are located here, and there's also a dedicated dog walk.
Also open to non-Caravan Club members, Longleat makes a good base for exploring West Wiltshire and North-East Somerset, as well as being ideal for people who enjoy walking. The wardens are able to provide you with details of rambles, both within the Longleat Estate and beyond. This is a peaceful site, with the only noise restricted to the lions in the adjoining Safari Park and occasional military aircraft from nearby Yeovilton.
 • 20 miles to Stourton House Flower Garden, which is beautifully manicured and maintained. The gardens are open throughout the year but call ahead to check what's on display. Adults £3.50, children £0.50. Tel 01747 840417.
