Castlerigg Hall Caravan Park
Website: www.castlerigg.co.uk
If location really is everything, then this park has it all. From the terraced pitches of this beautiful site, visitors can enjoy the stunning views of Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite, and the fells that surround them. The smart little market town of Keswick is just a short drive down the road and includes all the shops and amenities you might need during your stay.
Castlerigg's facilities are exceptionally impressive, helping to create the feel of a smart country club. And, the staff are really friendly and helpful.
As well as giving you a comprehensive information pack on arrival, they will take the time to direct you to your pitch. The site has a well-stocked shop and there are plans to extend it so that it can sell camping and caravanning accessories in addition to groceries.
There is a good hotel next to the site entrance, so you won't have far to go if you want an evening out.
Walkers are well catered for, with updates on weather conditions on the mountains and valleys posted up on site.
Magnificent views over the lakes and fells, together with peace and quiet, make this park a perfect place for adventure and relaxation. 30 miles to Whitehaven: its 18th-century harbour offers an insight into the town's historic prosperity based on its maritime trade.
