Hi all im looking to buy my very first camper van would like info regarding camper vans and alchol can you still get done for being drunk in charge of a vehcle as you can with a car, thanks shelle

Hi Shelle, welcome the world fo motorhoming! I see you've already got straight to a big question!

In theory, even if you don't plan to drive, you COULD be tested, and prosecuted if over the limit, if you're in the van in possession of the keys.

But in practice, if it's clear you're not planning to drive til next day, few police or other authorities are likely to trouble you.

So if you're staying somewhere legal for the night, your cab curtains are shut, the driving seat turned round (if yours does that), and the keys on a hook inside, you'll probably be fine. But in law, there's no defence if a jobsworth cop wants to make up his quota!
