Volkswagen has been running a couple of Star Wars-themed TV ads of late, but it looks like its relationship to the goings on in a galaxy far, far away date from a long time ago. Or at least 2009, judging by these photos from that year that suddenly popped up online again last week.

Volkswagen has been running a couple of Star Wars-themed TV ads of late, but it looks like its relationship to the goings on in a galaxy far, far away date from a long time ago. Or at least 2009, judging by these photos from that year that suddenly popped up online again last week.

We have no idea where they were taken or the origins of the sculpture (that’s assuming it’s real), so can anyone shed any light on it..?
